2nd Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies Mock Trial Competition Announcement
1. Date: February 7th, 2015~ February 8th, 2015
2. Location: Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies
(participants will be later notified of specific locations)
3. Tournament System
a. All rounds follow the American jury trial system.
b. All rounds are preparatory rounds.
c. Each team will have an assigned side (either plaintiff or defense) for each round. There will be two attorneys and two witnesses for each side. (more specific rules will be posted in the HAFS MTC Rulebook after registration opens)
d. Adjudication: Selection process of adjudicators will follow the rules and guidelines set by the Second HAFS Mock Trial Championship Organizing Committee.
4. Participant Qualification
a. All participants must attend a school located in South Korea
b. For students attending Korean schools, 6th grade students (expected to advance to middle school as of March, 2015) to Middle School 3rd grade students (expected to advance to high school as of March, 2015) are eligible.
c. For students attending International schools, students in 6th ~ 9th grade as of January 2015 are eligible.
5. Registration
a. Registration Period: January 7th, 2015 22:00 to January 8th, 2015 22:00
b. Registration fee for HAFS MTC 2015 is free
d. Fill out the application form and press submit
6. Preparation
a. The casebook and rulebook will be uploaded on the HAFS MTC website,
www.hafsevents.org, shortly after registration.
b. Participants are expected to read the casebook and prepare opening statements, direct examinations, cross examinations, and closing arguments for each side (plaintiff and defense).
c. Specific mock trial tutorial guides and videos will also be uploaded on the HAFS MTC website shortly after registration.

b. Individual Awards
Attorney Awards: Top five attorneys with highest individual scores will receive speaker awards
Witness Awards: Top five witnesses with highest individual scores will receive speaker awards
8. Contact
The Second HAFS Mock Trial Competition is organized and run by HAFS students. HAFS, the school, has no official affiliation with the debate championship except for providing the venue. Please keep this in mind and we request that all participants submit further questions only to

제 2회 합스 영어 모의법정 대회 공지사항
1. 대회일자: 2015년 2월 7일~ 2015년 2월 8일
2. 장소: 용인 한국 외국어대학교 부설 고등학교 (자세한 장소는 추후 참가자들에게 따로 공지 될예정입니다.)
3. 대회 진행 방식
a. 모든 참가자들은 미국 법정의 배심원제를 따라야 합니다.
b. 모든 라운드는 준비 라운드로, 사전에 준비해온 것을 바탕으로 진행됩니다.
c. 팀의 사이드는 매 라운드마다 지정됩니다. 각 팀별로 2명의 변호사와 2명의 증인이 있습니다.
d. 판정: 재판 심판자는 제 2회 합스 영어 모의법정 대회 조직 위원회가 만든 규칙에 따라 선발됩니다.
4. 참가 자격
a. 모든 참가자는 한국에 위치한 학교에 재학하여야 합니다.
b. 예비 중1~ 예비 고1
c. 국제학교 재학생: 2015년 1월을 기준으로 6~9 학년
5. 접수
a. 접수 기간: 2015년 1월 7일 22:00시~ 2015년 1월 8일 22:00시
b. 합스 제2회 영어 모의 법정 대회는 따로 참가비가 없습니다. (추후에 공지될 개별 점심값 제외)
d. 접수는 선착순으로 온라인으로 진행됩니다. (만약 접수 된 팀이 참가를 포기하면 웨잇리스트에 있는 가장 첫 팀이 접수됩니다.)
6. 준비
a. 접수 기간 이후에 홈페이지에 케이스북과 룰북이 업로드 될 예정입니다.
b. 모든 라운드가 준비 라운드이기 때문에 참가자들은 업로드된 케이스북을 읽고 오프닝 스피치, 증인 변호 원고, 클로징 스피치, 등을 준비해와야 합니다.
c. 참가자들의 준비 과정을 돕기 위해 참가 접수 기간이 끝난 이후에 합스 모의법정 대회 사이트에 모의법정 진행 과정 및 준비 방법에 관한 가이드라인 및 비디오가 업로드 될 예정입니다.

변호사 상: 개인 스피커 점수가 가장 높은 5명의 변호사 역할을 맡은 참가자들에게 스피커 상이 수여됩니다.
증인 상: 개인 스피커 점수가 가장 높은 5명의 증인 역할을 맡은 참가자들에게 스피커 상이 수여됩니다.
